Lisa Vanderpump gave an update on her relationship with cast members from the original “Vanderpump Rules.”
In an April 2025 interview with Us Weekly, the Bravo TV personality admitted she only keeps in touch with a few of the former bar stars due to her busy schedule. Vanderpump also pointed out that she has hundreds of employees who report to her at her bars and restaurants in West Hollywood, Las Vegas, and more.
In November, Bravo announced a complete reboot of “Vanderpump Rules” with a new cast of SUR employees for season 12.
Lisa Vanderpump Revealed Who She’s Still Close To

Speaking with Us Weekly, Vanderpump confirmed that she still talks to several OG cast members from the show, which debuted in 2013. “I talk to [Tom] Schwartz quite a lot, Lala occasionally. She always says, ‘I love you. My mother gave birth to Lauren, but you gave birth to Lala,'” Vanderpump said. “I love all of them.”
Vanderpump said her relationship is “good” with veteran cast member Scheana Shay, but added, “I can’t talk to them all the time. Remember, I have 700 people that work for me. They know I’m always there if they need me.”
During an appearance on the “Two T’s In a Pod” podcast on April 1, Shay addressed her status with her former boss. “I don’t talk to her too often,” the “Good as Gold” singer claimed. “She usually calls when she needs something.”
Vanderpump also made it clear that she is “not close” with Jax Taylor and still hasn’t gotten over his claim that “Vanderpump Rules” was “his” show at the end of Season 8. “He shot himself in the foot when he left. He was like, ‘This is my show.’ And I was like, ‘No. This is my show. Bye,’” the SUR owner said.
Lisa Vanderpump Did Not Hear From All of the Cast Members When the VPR Reboot Was Announced

Vanderpump has admitted that she did not hear from all of the veteran cast members when the casting changes were announced last year.
During an appearance on Bravo’s “Hot Mic” podcast, she said she heard from Schwartz “straight away.” “He said, ‘I just want to thank you for all the opportunities you’ve given me,’” Vanderpump recalled. “And James [Kennedy], too Lala, I’ve always been very close to her.”
She was not surprised by who she didn’t hear from.
“I think Ariana [Madix] texted me or tweeted me or something. Katie [Maloney], I didn’t hear from. But, as I say, that doesn’t really surprise me,” Vanderpump said.
The SUR owner clarified that she didn’t expect her former staffers to be grateful to her, but thought they should have gratitude for fame from the show itself.
“It’s strange because I’m not saying they should be grateful to me — but they should be grateful for the show. We always celebrated them. But that show gave them a plethora of opportunities they wouldn’t necessarily have had,” Vanderpump said.
