“Love at This Age Feels Sweeter”: Joan and Chock of The Golden Bachelorette Reveal NYC Apartment Progress Amid Long-Distance Journey

The Golden Bachelorette couple Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple wanted to find a place in New York City together after they got engaged on the show, and they've given an update about this plan. During The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Chock came up with the idea for him and Joan to find a home in New York City, although they also kept their houses in Wichita, Kansas and Rockville, Maryland, respectively. Since the show ended, Joan and Chock have been searching for a place in New York City where they can go when they want to be alone.

The Golden Bachelorette couple Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple wanted to find a place in New York City together after they got engaged on the show, and they've given an update about this plan.

In an interview with Swooon, Joan and Chock revealed that, although their goal is "absolutely" to live together in their forever home, the New York City move hasn't happened yet because it's been more challenging than they thought it would be to make the change. Joan confessed, "Logistically, this is a little bit harder than we expected it to be."

Joan explained, "Chock has a business in Wichita, [Kansas], and he’s still working on getting that to a place where he can leave it and feel comfortable. So we’re a little further away from that than maybe we expected or planned for, but I feel like we’re still both kind of young and in our working years still, so it’s a little hard."

However, Joan added that it's "still the plan" for them to find a place in New York City where she and Chock can "meet and spend time" together. She said, "Going to each other’s homes is fine, but it’s not quite as fun. We wanted to make our meeting place someplace that we could have a little separate life, maybe away from our families for a while."

Joan and Chock plan to rent instead of buying a home, but it's been hard for them to sign a lease because places are taken off the market so quickly. They're also not sure where in the city they want to live. Chock explained, "Each time we go [to the city], we stay in a different location, and they’re all so nice. What’s the perfect fit? We really don’t know yet. That’s why we wanted to rent - then you don’t have to make that full-time commitment. We stayed in Midtown South this past week, and I really enjoyed it."

Joan agreed, and admitted that she was "more close-minded" about their New York City location in the beginning because she loves SoHo. She said, "I love SoHo, that kind of area. Greenwich Village. But as I’ve stayed other places, I felt more comfortable. I think it was really a thing of feeling comfortable. Since I’ve been there enough times, I knew my favorite pizza place, where to get coffee, but as we spend time in other places, they’re feeling more comfortable, so I’m being a little more open-minded, which hopefully will make our hunt easier."

The Golden Bachelorette's Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple Smiling Outside

Before The Golden Bachelorette even began filming, Joan made it clear that she'd never leave her family, so this New York City apartment is the perfect compromise for her and Chock. They can both keep their original homes, but then also have an exciting place to go together in New York City. I think it's great that they haven't settled for a place that they don't really want just so that they can move in together, but instead they're waiting for their dream home.

I love that Joan and Chock are secure enough in their relationship that they can survive long-distance without any issues. This proves that their Golden Bachelorette relationship was built to last. Unlike other Bachelor Nation couples, Joan and Chock think with their heads in addition to their hearts, and I believe that their relationship will last forever because of it.
