‘Love Is Blind’ Star Hannah Breaks Down the Timeline of Nick Calling Her a ‘Grenade’

Hannah Jiles and Nick Dorka continue to be one of the most polarizing couples to come out of Love Is Blind season 7, especially after things got nasty between the twosome again at the recent reunion.

Love Is Blinds Hannah on When She Found Out Nick Called Her a Grenade:

During the Wednesday, October 30, special, Hannah, 27, confronted Nick, 29, about comments she heard he made about her appearance — including him calling her a “grenade.” While Nick tried to deny he made the remarks (eventually mumbling that he was “underwhelmed” by her looks), several cast members — including Marissa George — insisted that he said them.

“[Marissa] was the one who told me about the grenade comment and the rating thing,” Hannah told Us, referring to the system the men on the show used to rank the women. “She had known in Mexico, but kept it from me for a while because she didn’t wanna hurt my feelings, which I totally understand. … At first, [I thought], ‘Why did you tell me sooner?’ She was like, ‘I don’t wanna hurt your feelings,’ which is valid.”

The Netflix personality added that she didn’t doubt for a second that Nick made the comments, acknowledging that there was a clear disconnect between the two when they met IRL.

“I feel like the grenade thing would be only something that Nick would say,” she told Us. “I knew he wasn’t that sexually attracted to me or wasn’t into me the whole entire time, whether he said it or not. He would make comments off camera where I kind of knew [that] we weren’t sexually compatible — like, it just wasn’t working. And so when I heard that, I wasn’t surprised but I think it just pissed me off because I was so honest about his looks.”

Hannah is the first to say she was “cruel” when she spoke about being disappointed by Nick’s height after the pair left the pods.

“I shouldn’t have done that, but I was just straight up about it and he was feeling the same exact way but he just wasn’t saying anything,” she admitted. “I think that’s why it hurt my feelings. If you felt like that, you should have told me.”

When asked if Nick’s honesty might’ve helped the two actually develop a relationship, Hannah said she isn’t so sure.

“I think that we just have very different communication styles. He feels the exact same way I feel, but he does it secretly or tells his friends,” she said. “I’m upfront. As soon as I met him, in Mexico, I was like, ”Look, after the reveal, I was upset. I thought you were taller than me. I didn’t think you’re not attractive, you’re really attractive. But at that moment, I just didn’t feel like that.’ He was like, ‘Really? It was love at first sight for me.’”

She does admit that she “would’ve respected” Nick more if he was honest and said something like: “Look you’re not conventionally the girl you would go for, but I really wanna make this work ’cause I love who you are and I think you are beautiful.”

“I don’t think that would’ve hurt my feelings,” she explained. “I think I would’ve understood it a little bit better instead of being so confused.”

Hannah does, however, insist that she did love Nick.

“I really do think I was [in love with him]. We wouldn’t have stayed together for so long if [not],” she said. “Yes, towards the end, we are not good. But there were a lot of great things about Nick and I think you don’t see all the good moments that we had. We had a lot of endearing, sweet moments where [I felt] it could really work. Obviously, there was just a lot more trouble than there was good things and that’s why we broke up.”

Elsewhere during the reunion, Hannah revealed that she found a list of Nick’s “90 day goals,” which included being the “most famous” person from LiB. Nick claimed that the list was written “way before” he became part of the cast.

“I found the note about his 90 day goals right after we had broken up. So we were talking about that a little bit. A week later I was like, ‘Hmm, maybe, off camera he might be like different, when we’re just by ourselves there’s no cameras.’ So I invited him over just to make sure if we’re compatible or not — we aren’t,” Hannah told Us. “And I never saw him again. … We talked a couple more times and then everyone started telling me all the things he was saying behind my back so he was blocked for the past year.”
