Love Is Blind star Marissa George and her ex-fiancé, Ramses Prashad, hit quite a few rough patches after leaving the season 7 pods, including a difficult conversation surrounding birth control. Ramses’ comments received backlash from fans, but Marissa gave some more insight to fans about what the cameras didn’t catch.
“I want to clarify something important to me. As I mentioned on the 'Viall Files,' some parts of the birth control conversation didn't make it on screen. Rams may not always get it right, but he consistently tries to approach sensitive conversations with empathy,” Marissa, 32, wrote via her Instagram Stories in a screenshot shared by fans online. “Although his initial comments in that conversation didn't sit well with me, we easily reached an understanding after a longer talk off camera. We agreed to continue using natural birth control by tracking my cycle – a method I've relied on for years.”
The lawyer continued, “Rams downloaded the Flo app and synced it with mine to share the responsibility of tracking my fertility window. If I'd set a boundary about using protection, he would have respected it. Just want to make sure that's clear. Be kind and remember to give people space to be imperfect and grow. That's all I'll say on this. Everything else was what it was.”
Marissa ended her message by thanking fans for their “kindness and love.”
During Marissa and Ramses’ time on Love Is Blind season 7, one particular scene where the former couple talked about birth control had fans raising their eyebrows. When Marissa expressed her desire to not go back on birth control, Ramses, 35, seemingly didn’t know how to respond and just gave an awkward laugh. While he said that he didn’t want Marissa to go back on birth control if “it affected her mood” or “health,” he wasn’t excited about the idea of using condoms.
“Do you enjoy condom sex?” Ramses asked with a skeptical tone. “It’s not really enjoyable, baby. Sex is supposed to be, like, mutually enjoyable.”
Viewers were angry that Ramses didn’t seem to offer a solution to their issue and instead seemingly just wanted the responsibility to lie with Marissa. However, Marissa said that wasn’t the case when she appeared on the October 22 episode of Nick Viall’s podcast, “The Viall Files.”
“You guys are obviously not seeing the end of the conversation, right?” Marissa told Nick, 44. “The conversation about birth control, for example. You aren’t seeing that we talked about vasectomy [as an option,] right falling into that, and how he kind of addresses, ‘Wow, I have this male privilege. I should have been more aware.’ You don’t see that type of context.”
Marissa also addressed the moment when Ramses wanted to get intimate while she was on her period and not feeling well.
“I was pissed,” Marissa replied to Nick when he asked how that made her feel. “I was like, ‘Dude, you know I’m sick. You know I’m driving back and forth from Baltimore. I’m in law school; I’m carrying the weight of the wedding planning at this point.’ So, I was really annoyed.”
