Former “Dancing With the Stars” pro Maks Chmerkovskiy opened up about chemistry on the show and how some dancers end up falling in love with their partners. For him, he was really focused on the task at hand and only got romantically involved with one person during his time on the show.
“I’m going to speak for most of us, it’s a job that go into if we’re single and, you know, I definitely went into some seasons open minded, you know, let’s, you know, whatever, it will be where it will be. But I personally had one relationship out of 17 seasons that I did,” Chmerkovskiy said on the February 24 episode of the “Sibling Revelry” podcast.
“It was very short lived and it was a mistake all the way in the beginning. So you’re going to say that I didn’t have attractive partners? No, I just didn’t have enough time to even care or think about this,” he added.
Chmerkovskiy, who is married to DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd, did not share the name of the person that he was in a relationship with.
A Few ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Fans Believe Maks Chmerkovskiy Dated Willa Ford
A few fans think that Chmerkovskiy was romantically involved with his season 3 partner, Willa Ford.
“The only partner on the show he ever confirmed dating in the past is Willa Ford during season 3, so that’s who he is likely talking about here,” one person wrote on a Reddit thread about Chmerkovskiy’s comment.
“I think Cheryl confirmed it was Willa Ford?” someone else said.
“Willa Ford I presume,” a third comment read.
“How about all the pro dancers? No romance…with Cheryl? An engagement to Karina, a lusting after Julianne and of course Peta,” another Redditor pointed out.
Maks Chmerkovskiy Had a Major Showmance With Meryl Davis
Chmerkovskiy and his season 18 partner Meryl Davis had quite the showmance. In fact, many fans were convinced the two were dating.
However, Davis confirmed there was nothing romantic going on with her dance partner.
“We’re not dating. We have an amazing relationship, an amazing friendship. But beyond that your personal life is your personal life,” Davis told Glamour magazine in May 2014.
The showmance did its job, however, getting the couple more than enough votes to win the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. To date, that was the only win that Chmerkovskiy had throughout his tenure on the show.
