Marco Rossi named NHL First Star of the Week

   

Wild center Marco Rossi has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week after scoring three goals and five assists in three Minnesota wins last week.

Rossi bagged two goals and an assist in the team's 5-3 win over Nashville on New Year's Eve. His assist in the second period was the Wild's go-ahead goal in the game.

The 23-year-old followed that up with a third-period equalizer that sent that sent the game to overtime on Thursday against the Washington Capitals.

On Saturday, Rossi capped it off by assisting on all four of the Wild's goals in their 4-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

After the starring week, Rossi is now up to 15 goals and 22 assists on the season. His 37 points are second on the team, behind only Kirill Kaprizov.

The Wild are currently in second place in the Central Division, trailing the rival Winnipeg Jets by two points. Minnesota is back in action Tuesday night when it hosts the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. CT at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
