Team U.S.A. cruised to a 6-1 victory over Finland in their inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off game on Thursday night.
Wild stars Brock Faber and Matt Boldy connected in the second period, giving the U.S. its first lead of the game.
It was a deflection for Boldy who found the back of the net from Faber's wrister near the blue line, who was credited for the assist. It prompted an avalanche for the U.S. which ended the game with four more unanswered goals in the third period.
Boldy is 23 years old and Faber is only 22, which makes them two of the youngest players on Team U.S.A. They're certainly not the stars or veterans of the team, but the fact that they're already making their presence felt is a great sign for Wild fans.
The U.S. will have Friday off before a huge game against Canada on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT. They will have their final pool play game against Sweden on Monday night. The two nations with the most points will then play in the championship game on Thursday night.
It's the inaugural edition of the 4 Nations Face-Off event, but so far it seems like a smashing success for all parties involved.
