Former “Bachelor” lead Matt James has removed his breakup post from Instagram. The season 30 “Dancing With the Stars” alum made the move more than two weeks after announcing that he and Rachael Kirkconnell had ended their relationship.
“Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord,” James captioned a post on January 16.
The photo he included was one from his season of “The Bachelor,” which is where he and Kirkconnell met. The post was controversial because James uploaded it within three hours of breaking things off with Kirkconnell. On an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kirkconnell admitted being taken aback by the post.
Fans Reacted to Matt James’ Decision to Remove the Post
After seeing that James had removed the post from his Instagram feed, some fans reacted on Reddit.
“He realized it wasn’t a good look, after losing 60k followers,” one person wrote.
“I feel like most influencers end up archiving a breakup announcement after a certain amount of time. Kaitlyn and Jason def did and theirs was normal,” someone else weighed in.
“I don’t think they’re back together. based on social media, Rachael has been hanging around a lot of people who are celebrating her for her single/independent phase, and he also deleted allll other posts with her so i just don’t think they’re back together,” a third Redditor said.
“You guys are acting like he’s lost over a million followers, he’ll be fine. He’s deleted the post and moving on in life, you all should too,” a fourth comment read.
Rachael Kirkconnell Doesn’t Want to Get Back With Matt James
On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kirkconnell made it quite clear that she was “blindsided” by the split. She also made it clear that she has no interest in rekindling her romance with James.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Kirkconnell echoed these feelings.
“It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m definitely in that phase of just, like, still trying to grasp everything and figure out a new normal. It’s easier said than done,” she told the outlet. “Some days are easier than others, but I’m feeling OK. Breakups are normal; they happen to everyone,” she added.
When asked if she’d consider giving James another chance, it was a hard no for the former reality TV star.
“There’s just no way I’m letting myself,” she said.
