Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady are once again dueling on the biggest stage. This time, though, it’s not the Super Bowl. They’re each representing the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals.
The Celtics called on Brady, one of Boston's all-time greatest athletes, to be the voice for their hype video for the Finals. Fans were thrilled to see him on the call for another great piece of content from the C's social media team.
Be careful what you wish for.
“Really? You want Boston? Take it from me, that’s a bad idea,” Brady said, calling out all the opposing fan bases who have chanted in favor of their team taking on the Celtics. He ran down the list of teams that the Celtics beat on the way to the Finals, made fun of the New York Knicks for losing in the playoffs and even threw in his signature “We're still here” threat.

So, how did the Mavs counter the Celtics' ability to get a legendary quarterback to narrate their hype video? By calling on one of their own.
Mahomes may still be with the Kansas City Chiefs but he hails from Texas and rides hard for the Mavericks. He narrated Dallas' hype video, pointing to how far the team has come and that they were not a favorite to make it this far. The video even flashed a snippet of Charles Barkley, who, along with the Inside the NBA crew, predicted the Minnesota Timberwolves would win the Western Conference Finals.
“If you don’t believe in winning this title, you shouldn’t be here,” the greatest quarterback of all time said. “You know what it costs to get this far. Every moment of your life has led you to this. And if you want to hold that trophy, it will cost a lot more. Nobody expected the Mavs. Nobody wanted the Mavs. But nobody can deny it that you’ve earned it.”

Brady leading teams that beat Mahomes' Cheifs squads in the 2019 AFC Championship Game (with the New England Patriots) and Super Bowl 55 (with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) bodes well for the Mavs. But Dallas has the back-to-back champion on their side — literally, he's sitting courtside at playoff games.
Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals between the Celtics and Mavericks will be Thursday night at TD Garden at 8:30 PM EST. This series should be very competitive and feature a lot of close games.
