Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby found himself at the center of NFL trade talks.
In an era of social media and sports where athletes genuinely have to be careful about what they say and what message it may convey, Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby found himself having to backtrack on Wednesday.
The two-time All-Pro has been caught in the thick of trade rumors, and while rabid fan bases who want him on their team are part of the reason, comments he made last week certainly didn't help matters. He addressed his remarks that appeared to imply he didn't want to be a part of a rebuild on the most recent episode of his podcast, "The Rush."
"I make one comment in the press conference last week and then that's when it like went even crazier," Crosby said. "I wasn't trying to say anything. I was literally just saying 'Yeah you know all I'm trying to do is win...Like I don't care where I'm at.' I'm speaking like I don't give a f*** where I'm at. If I'm in a f****** basketball game of pig I'm trying to win that motherf*****. That's how I am."
Whether or not his explanation that he was being competitive is believable to all fans is unknown, but it certainly does have to at least help ease tensions in the building. When his comments initially made their rounds on social media, they were certainly not taken how he explained them.
“I’m not here to rebuild," Crosby said last week. "I’m here to win. So I don’t know whatever that means, but yeah, I’m here to win now. Wherever I’m gonna be… I’m gonna be here to win. So, that’s all that matters to me.”
However, Crosby did say earlier in the podcast that he wants to remain a Raider. The team has shown no public interest in moving on from the 27-year-old.
