For most, Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans will be in Canton when his NFL career ends, and this has been his high-level play for well over a decade.
When thinking about Evans, many gravitate towards his now-famous streak of 11 seasons of 1,000+ yards, which has the six-time Pro Bowler now tied with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most in NFL history.
It would be fitting, and perhaps consolidate his standing in the game, if Evans managed to again surpass 1,000 yards in 2025 with Baker Mayfield as his quarterback.
However, if you are a member of the Mike Evans fan club, then what you are about to read might disappoint you.
For ESPN's Mike Clay, when giving his 2025 projections for every player, something unthinkable happens when it comes to Evans.
Clay's Evans 2025 projection: 75 receptions, 931 yards, eight touchdowns.
Stop the presses.
Evans doesn't reach 1,000 yards? What sorcery is this?
Now, as much as fans want Evans to make it 12 seasons in a row of making 1,000 yards, given the abundance of weapons at Mayfield's disposal, there are a lot of mouths to feed, and some of the targets that would have been Evans' might go to other players.
Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka loom as the two who will get some targets, as will Jalen McMillan, so there is every chance that Evans might not hit that record-breaking mark in 2025.
But despite that, you will be hard-pressed to find someone who will bet against Evans in 2025, and while Clay thinks under 1,000 yards will happen, we aren't willing to bet against the future Hall of Famer.
