Mike Tyson is confident Dana White's rumoured boxing venture will be a success, after being given some unique insight.

White is the current president of UFC, a hugely successful MMA promotion which has effectively monopolised the sport and has now an approximate worth in excess of $12 billion.

The UFC kingpin recently announced that he would be making a play in the world of boxing promotion, teasing an announcement for his new project in 2025.

Podcaster Joe Rogan recently suggested he could be going into business with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh [Head of General Entertainment Authority] to build his brand.

And Tyson is certain things will go well for White, providing he hires a chief matchmaker who helps him produce the best spectacles in the sport.

“Listen I would love to give him some insights and everything," he said during an appearance on the Pound-for-Pound podcast with Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo.

"He has also given me some insights. I think he’s going to do a good job I think so, I really do.

"If he gets the fights, the name of the game is to get the fighters and get the most money for the least risk, you know.

"He needs a great matchmaker, that’s what no one has now.

"They don’t know how to put great matches together, where the fight’s going to be exciting."

The UFC has established a firm rankings and matchmaking model in MMA, where fans have often spoken with excitement at the regularity of seeing the best competitors meet.

Boxing fans have regularly bemoaned some of the biggest fights failing to materialise, over issues including rival promotions TV deals, or simply financial reward.

Heavyweight legend Tyson was fortunate enough to have fought the best during his sensational era at the pinnacle of the division, sharing the ring with the likes of Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis.

And his backing for White could be crucial, as the kingpin looks to emulate his success in the squared circle.

Turki Alalshikh, a potential partner of White, has already made significant change to the sport in recent times.

His investment has helped bring promotions together and stage events such as Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.

Reports even indicated that he is eyeing a $2 billion boxing super league, with all the promotions brought into the stable.

Tyson's former coach Teddy Atlas believes White's arrival on the scene would do nothing but further good for the sport.

“Come on in, come on in. We need you," he said.

"Turki has helped boxing tremendously by making fights that the promoters couldn't make.

"They didn't want to make it because they didn't own both sides. They didn't control both sides.

"They didn't control both sides. They didn't want to go across the street and share.

"The fans were starving. And then Turki Alalsheikh came along from Saudi with the money. And in the last year he's made fights that the fans want the sport needs.

"Dana White, Teddy Atlas would have open arms because he'd make the fights that you need to make.”
