Mike Tyson Says 'Everybody Knows Who Is Really The Greatest Fighter Of All Time' - Seconds Out

As Canelo Alvarez looks to cement his legacy further, Mike Tyson believes one Mexican stands above all others when it comes to the fight game.

Tyson’s own professional career was a special one, beginning back in 1985 when he was just 18-years-old, winning his first nineteen bouts via stoppage with twelve of those coming inside the very first round.

He captured world honours for the first time when he defeated WBC heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick in 1986 to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, a record that remains in place to this very day.

Another fighter that has taken the boxing world by storm in the present day is Mexican icon Canelo, who currently reigns as the undisputed super-middleweight champion after he defeated William Scull in Riyadh last month.

Speaking on his podcast, Tyson gave plaudits to the late, great Salvador Sanchez as the best from his country.

“Salvador Sanchez. I just think Sanchez was hard to beat, this is what made him really special to me and everybody else that knows his style, if you’re a halfway fighter, decent fighter, you might last the distance, the greater you are the more he kicks your a–, but he fights right above the level of the game.”

Sanchez was just 23-years-old when his tragic death came in 1982. He reigned as the WBC featherweight champion at the time and had successfully defended his crown against Azumah Nelson weeks prior, with his boxing career ending with a record of 44-1-1. The Mexican great was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.
