Mike Tyson lands new role on Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney Times Square card

Mike Tyson has landed a job as a guest analyst on Friday's Times Square card.

The four-fight bill features fierce rivals Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney in separate fights.

Garcia is scheduled to face former WBA super lightweight champion Rolly Romero, while Haney is boxing former unified WBC and WBO super lightweight champion Jose Ramirez.

Further down the card, Teofimo Lopez puts his WBO super lightweight strap on the line against Arnold Barboza Jr, and Japanese amateur standout Reito Tsutsumi makes his professional debut.

The stars are expected to turn out for the New York fight night, and there is unlikely to be a bigger name in attendance than former undisputed heavyweight king Tyson, who will be ringside, calling the action.

"Can’t wait! I’ll be there in Times Square as guest analyst," tweeted Tyson on Tuesday underneath a promotional video for the event.

Providing Garcia and Haney win their respective bouts, they will be elevated to a rematch in October following a controversial inaugural encounter.

Garcia dropped Haney three times en route to being declared the victor via majority decision.

However, 'King Ry' failed two separate drug tests taken around the fight for the banned substance Ostarine.

As a result, he was slapped with a one-year suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), while the result was overturned to a no contest.

Garcia's team contended that he was a victim of a contaminated substance and pushed for a reduced ban.

However, the decision was upheld by the NYSAC.

He was officially cleared to fight again last week after submitting a clean drug test to the commission and is free to resume his career against Romero.

Haney later filed a civil complaint against Garcia, alleging battery, fraud and breach of contract relating to their first fight.

The case has since been settled out of court and will be dismissed in May.

Ahead of his return to the ring, Garcia appears to be in a much better headspace than he was in for his fight with Haney, where he was seen drinking on the scales and posting various abhorrent tweets.

“I’m coming back with a bang,” said Garcia. “I’m not here to play no games. I can’t. I got a huge fight coming up next.

“I’ve got to take him as serious as if I’m fighting Devin, so we’re going to be prepared 100 per cent.

“I’m still going to bring that speed, that power. It’s just what I do. I’m explosive and I’m hungry. I feel the adrenaline right now.

"Fight week, I’m feeling how I always feel – just focused and ready to kill.”
