Mayweather won all 50 of his professional fights for a perfect record, with 27 of those being via knockout.

Mike Tyson misses out on list of top 10 greatest boxers of all time, Floyd Mayweather isn't number one

He is considered by some fans to be the greatest boxer of all-time - and even if not for others, he would at least be in the discussion as one of the greatest.

In 2020, Boxing stats website BoxRec published an interactive list of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all-time, with Mayweather ranked as number one.

The list evolves and changes over time, and as of October 2024, 'Money' is down in fifth position in the list.

In first place is Sugar Ray Robinson, who recorded 174 wins during his professional career. A total of 109 of those wins came via knockout.

Robinson competed professionally over a 25-year time span between 1940 and 1965, with 54 of his wins coming during World War II.

In second place is the Canadian fighter Jimmy McLarnin, who fought for 13 years between 1923 and 1936. The welterweight won 55 and lost 11 of his fights at professional level.

Argentine fighter Carlos Monzon, who won 87 fights at middleweight between 1963 and 1967, is third, while American fighter Henry Armstrong (welterweight, 149 wins, 21 losses) is in fourth position.

Mayweather is next up to round out the top five.

Muhammad Ali, meanwhile, is not even in the top 10 of fighters. He sits 12th, having won 56 of his 61 fights at heavyweight.

Tyson is another huge omission from the top 10, and one of the biggest names to not feature in even the top 50.

'Iron Mike' had a total of 58 professional bouts between 1985 and 2005 in a career that came to a conclusion as he approached his 39th birthday.

In that time, he chalked up 50 wins and six losses, with an astounding 44 victories via knockout as he demonstrated his stopping power in the ring.
