Mike Tyson Reveals Shocking Reason He Still Fought Jake Paul After ‘Screaming In Pain’ From Injury

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson made a sensational return to boxing against Jake Paul in November, as he finally reveals why he went ahead with the bout after suffering a major health scare.

The 58-year-old from New York City hadn’t fought since suffering a knockout defeat to Kevin McBride back in 2005. At his formidable best, Tyson was a serious force in the heavyweight division where he became the youngest world heavyweight champion history when he beat Trevor Berbick in 1986.

‘Iron’ Mike was originally scheduled to face the 27-year-old in July last year, but suffered a health concern in the lead-up when an ulcer in his stomach flared up, forcing the controversial showdown to be postponed until the heavyweight legend was fit enough to resume training camp.

In an interview with Fox Nation, Tyson finally revealed the real reason why he went ahead with the bout after the initial postponement, with many left concerned over the 58-year-old’s health and wellbeing.

“I was worried about getting sued, you know, because I was like, God, they’re going to sue me if I don’t do this fight.

I had a bloody ulcer, like three inches. Kept bleeding and bleeding. And I had to have, what, 10 blood transfusions. My wife sees me screaming because my body is in so much pain. And I come home, I’m like, ah, ah. I promise I wouldn’t do this to myself.”

The controversial spectacle did indeed go ahead on November 15, much to the dismay of fans around the world. Tyson was quite visibly a shadow of his once ferocious self, as he lost via wide unanimous decision to the former YouTube sensation.

The 58-year-old had initially expressed his intentions to fight again, but made a u-turn on this shortly after as he entered retirement for hopefully the final time.
