Minnesota Wild, Washington Capitals Complete Declan Chisholm Trade

Chisholm has played for the Winnipeg Jets and Wild over his three-year NHL career. The Bowmanville, Ontario native totaled two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 66 games this season. He averaged an ice time of 17 minutes this season, which was up from his career-average of 16:46.

The 25-year-old had a Corsi for of 52.1 and a relative Corsi of 6.4. Chisholm placed  second among Minnesota defensemen in takeaways with 27.

He has five goals and 16 assists for 21 points in 99 career games. Winnipeg originally drafted Chisholm in the fifth round, 150th overall of the 2018 NHL Draft.

Priskie last appeared in the NHL in the 2021-22 season with the Florida Panthers. He’s registered 69 points (20 goals and 49 assists) in 130 games with the Hershey Bears of the AHL from 2023-25.

What It Means

Chisholm is pretty solid at getting the puck away from the opposition. He may not put up the points, but he can help out the Capitals defensive group. Chisholm had single-season career highs in assists, points, games played and shots on goal last season in Minnesota.

Washington did win the Metropolitan Division. However, it has designs on getting Alex Ovechkin one more Stanley Cup before he hangs it up. Chisholm is also a restricted free agent who needs a new contract. He’s also an arbitration eligible RFA.

Priskie is more of a role player and may spend the majority of his time with the Iowa Wild of the AHL. However, he could step in if there’s an injury on the defensive end.
