Minor roster moves are among the notable topics from another Eagles practice

The Philadelphia Eagles, following their first training camp practice on Wednesday, took the field on Thursday for a second session. Everyone was present and accounted for. There were eyes everywhere as expected.

Minor roster moves are among the notable topics from another Eagles practice

First, the housekeeping notes... Linebacker Oren Burks sat out. He's dealing with a knee injury. There is also a release and signing to make note of. Philly announced they have brought back wide receiver Griffin Herbert. He had previously been released in April. To clear the space to do so, they waived tackle Gottlieb Ayedze.

Ayedze, a six-foot-four, 309-pound offensive tackle was an undrafted rookie free agent signing following this year's NFL Draft. His future seems uncertain. Herbert probably won't be making the roster either as he's at the bottom of the pecking order on the wide receiver's depth chart.

Here are a few of the other top stories from Thursday.

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio hangs out with the Philly media,

We'll probably be hearing from Vic Fangio weekly once the season begins, but ahead of the second team practice at the NovaCare Complex, he was made available to the media. We learned his theories on analytics. That alone was interesting, but he also shared his views on the upcoming positional battles. He sees cornerback, inside linebacker, and edge rusher being among the most interesting.

Shoot. Don't we all?

Landon Dickerson returns to practice.

Landon Dickerson, after sitting out of the first training camp practice with a toe laceration, returned to the field on Thursday for the second session albeit in a 'limited' capacity. Brett Toth sat out of practice again. He is dealing with a hamstring issue. He and Oren Burks were the only two players absent because of injuries.

John Ross took third wide receiver reps with first team.

Players have been juggled in and out of the lineup during the first two practice sessions. Something that caught everyone's attention was John Ross working with the first team offense as the third wide receiver.

Parris Campbell held down that role during the first practice training camp practice, and we continued to see the connection he is building with Jalen Hurts. If they continue to mesh and Campbell keeps performing well, he'll be the third wideout regardless of what Ross or anyone else does.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is carted off to close second training camp practice, but he will be fine.

Slight scare here... Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went down with what appeared to be a leg injury. He left practice in a cart, but Jeff McLane later reported he was dealing with some cramps.

Give him some fluids and he'll be fine... Let's hope there won't be many injuries to discuss this summer, but we're thankful to learn that his issue was only minor.
