“More Than a Trip — It Was a Gift”: Alfonso Ribeiro SHARES Emotional Glimpses of Exploring, Learning, and Growing Together With His Kids

Alfonso Ribeiro is admittedly extremely busy hosting “Dancing With the Stars” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” for a large chunk of the year. However, he always makes time for his family when he’s not working. While some go to water parks or Disney World for their summer vacations, Ribeiro and his wife decided to mix fun with education this summer and took their kids on a memorable trip to Rome.

Ribeiro’s Kids’ Homeschool Pod Explored Ancient Wonders Together

“Had a great time showing the kids all of the places they studied in their Ancient Rome homeschool course,” he captioned a carousel of photos on Instagram. “Gotta admit, I learned a lot this time around too. Thank you Liv Tours for making the tours so easy, interesting and enjoyable.”

The Ribeiro family went to Rome with their homeschool pod and took many pictures of their group of nine adults and eight kids.

The first photo showed Ribeiro’s son, Alfonso Jr., “AJ”, standing against a railing, grinning. Behind him is the Colosseum, built between 72 AD and 80 AD by Roman Emperor Vespasian. More images show the group posing outside the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, as well as touring inside. As they examine the rings of emperors, you hear an adult exclaim, “That’s a big finger.”

Ribeiro Has Revealed His ‘Crazy’ Sideline Parent Style

Ribeiro is a pretty hands-on parent, and that applies to his kids’ sports, as well. He often posts photos from his son, Anders’, travel baseball games. In May, he posted an image expressing his pride in Anders. Despite not getting enough sleep, he’d played well, earning the title of Player of the Day, along with a championship ring.

During a recent appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show,” he admitted that he’s a “crazy” sideline parent.

“I might have an opinion or two, so I’m the parent that certain parents don’t like,” he said. “I’m okay with it. It’s hard for me to be quiet. When the kids are doing stuff and they’re not doing it right, then I have to let it be known that they’re not doing it right.”

He went on to explain that if “you want to be the kids that’s out there picking dandelions in the field, that’s little league. Travel is where, like, the best of the best go to play, and you play all over the country.”

“So, we [are] spending a lot of money, right, for us to be able to play and win games,” he continued. “And you realize that the more games you win, the more games you get, the more value you’re getting for your money.”
