The New York Rangers are falling in the East, and now, fans are voicing their opinion on Head Coach Peter Laviolette and his future with the team.
Peter Laviolette was brought in to take the New York Rangers to the next level, but thus far he's done the exact opposite of that, with plenty of backlash coming his way after his latest lineup decisions.
That criticism came after he benched Calvin de Haan in favour of Carson Soucy on Thursday, and in their game they would be thoroughly dominated by the Toronto Maple Leafs, with a late goal making it 4-3 which is not an accurate representation of the game.
As a result, there were chants of 'Fire Lavi' reigning throughout the arena during the game, and with the Rangers falling further and further out of the Stanley Cup Playoff race, that may just be what General Manager Chris Drury has to do over the summer.
It wasn't just the fans in the arena however, as fans all over social media were voicing their disgust with this team and Laviolette as a result, as he's taking a Cup contending team to the bottom tier in the Eastern Conference.
Despite being outshot 35-13 against the Calgary Flames in their last game, this is a team that showed up with absolutely no urgency, and whether that's on the coach or the players, some fans just want answers.
Ultimately, this is a squad that has the talent to be a contender in the Eastern Conference, but they've simply not been able to put it all together for any length of time this season, and if they do miss the post-season, someone will have to pay, and that will most likely be Laviolette.
