Muhammad Ali Said One ‘Awesome’ Heavyweight Would Have ‘KO’d Him’ Even At His Very Best

Boxing icon Muhammad Ali once admitted that there was one heavyweight in particular he could not have beaten during his career.

Best known as ‘The Greatest’, Ali is often regarded as one of, if not the greatest fighter in the long and storied history of boxing, standing out amongst a long list of legendary heavyweights.

Ali enjoyed the majority of his success between the mid-to-late 1960’s and 1970’s, where he picked up career defining victories against the likes of Ken Norton, Joe Frazier and ‘Big’ George Foreman, who he defeated on October 30 1974 in what is best known as ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’, one of the most iconic moments of the sport’s history.

Despite coming up against and defeating an array of great fighters during his glittering tenure, Ali once revealed the one fighter who he believes would have got the better of him had they fought during any stage of his career.

When asked what he thought about Mike Tyson, Ali was full of praise for the young heavyweight champion.

“Awesome. He’s powerful, he’s strong, he’s got a big punch. If he hits you, you’re in trouble.”

‘The Greatest’ even claimed Mike Tyson would have been too much for him if they had faced each other, backing ‘Iron’ Mike to win via knockout.

“I’m scared of him. He’s a real champ. [Tyson would have won], I was a dancing master. You are that powerful and so fast, if he hit me [mimics falling over].”

Tyson is often dubbed as the most ferocious heavyweight fighter ever, with a unique ‘peek-a-boo’ style that saw him dominate the division during the 1980’s. ‘Iron’ Mike defeated Trevor Berbick back in 1986 to become the youngest world heavyweight champion of all time, an incredible record which still stands almost 40-years later.
