I remember the one where he was punching towards the camera.

What can you say about him ? We had a one-to-one interview with him, and were due to meet him at a hotel in Park Lane. We were there a little bit early.

You don’t know what to expect - you’ve heard so much about this great man.

But when he walked in I was in total awe of him. He never stopped talking, joking and smiling.

And when it came to photographs he was very helpful

I met him so many times, it’s hard to recall just one. The most memorable was at the hotel, though.

Muhammad Ali and brother Rahman

I was in his presence for more than an hour, but even though he was being interviewed he was winking and joking, and coming out with one-liners for the camera.

What did surprise me is I’m just under six-feet tall, and when I stood up for a photo with him I couldn’t believe how big this fella was.

He was massive, and his smile was captivating. Although he was a giant, he was a gentle giant.

He said he was the greatest, and he was the greatest. I respected him for that.

If he hadn’t have been a boxer he’d have been a winner, whichever walk of life he went into.

That was the man. He was just captivating, entertaining, his physique was beyond doubt every time I saw him in that ring.

Even in his later years he still had that charm, that twinkle in his eye. He wasn’t a legend, he was an icon.

There’s no question about it. He exuded confidence.
