'My Daddy is an All-Pro!' The Heartwarming Way Buccaneers OL Tristan Wirfs Got Special News

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found several gems in the NFL Draft in recent years. With all due respect to wideout Mike Evans, maybe none are more valuable and respected than tackle Tristan Wirfs.

And now, Wirfs has made NFL history in the most unique and heartwarming way possible.

'My Daddy is an All-Pro!' The Heartwarming Way Buccaneers OL Tristan Wirfs Got Special News

This season, Wirfs became the first player in NFL history to be named All-Pro at both right and left tackle.

But it's how the former Iowa Hawkeye was informed of the feat that warms the heart. While in the middle of a sit-down interview at the team facility, Wirf's girlfriend, Meredith Sutton, walked in with the couple's nine-month-old son, Julius.

Julius was wearing a t-shirt that read, "My Daddy is an All-Pro."

"No way," Wirfs said in disbelief.

"What do you think, Bub?" he asked his baby boy. "That's awesome. ... That's crazy. You surprised me. I was just telling [Meredith] about it the other night, like last night, I was like, 'No one's ever done it before.' I was like, 'I'm trying!'"

After three massively successful seasons at right tackle that included a Super Bowl win, Wirfs was moved to left tackle to replace the departed Donovan Smith in 2023. He only had four previous starts at left tackle, all in college.

Wirfs' worries were unfounded, however, as he made the Pro Bowl that season and in 2024.

"That's outstanding," coach Todd Bowles said Friday. "It says a lot about him -- his work ethic, his character, his pride, the way he goes about things," Bowles said.

"He does it the right way. He plays hard. He did a heck of a job at right tackle [and] I know he was skeptical at left tackle, but he dove in with both feet and he got great at it, too."

The Bucs already boast an all-time great in Evans at wide receiver, but the next decade or so might prove to belong to Wirfs in Tampa Bay.
