"My Whole Stomach Was Hurting": Beverly Ortega Reveals Shocking Reason She Unexpectedly Left The Bachelor Season 29 Amid Signs Grant Ellis Is Struggling

Beverly revealed that she had to leave The Bachelor season 29 early because she had appendicitis and had to have surgery to have her appendix removed.

On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Beverly revealed that she had to leave The Bachelor season 29 early because she had appendicitis and had to have surgery to have her appendix removed. She shared that she was surprised and happy to receive the one-on-one date with Grant, and she was glad that just she and Carolina Sofia were left in the house during the group date so that she could escape the drama for a while.

Beverly said, "I take a nap and I wake up, my stomach’s hurting. I’m like, 'Okay, maybe I just need to go to the bathroom or like the food didn’t sit well.' And I started throwing up." She added that she was in "excruciating pain," and she continued to vomit for 12 hours. Beverly knew that something was very wrong, even though she had been diagnosed with anxiety that gives her panic attacks, which sometimes cause her to throw up. However, she said that she didn't feel anxious, and she knew that something wasn't right.

Beverly detailed how she was feeling when she heard the news, saying, "I, again, at that point, still was not really processing. Like, again, I am a crier. I am emotional. (But I) did not cry one time. I was like, 'Okay, my family isn’t here. My friends aren’t here. I’m about to have major surgery on an organ.' I already, in 2018, got my gallbladder removed. Now my appendix is being removed. I’m like, losing organs left and right."

Beverly called her parents, and her dad told her to get on the next flight home to New York for the surgery, but it wasn't safe because she said that her appendix could "explode mid-fight." Instead, she had the surgery in California, and her mother flew there to be with her and later take her home.

Beverly explained that the hardest part of her recovery wasn't the physical aspect, but rather the emotional one. She said, "I was really, really sad. Honestly, it took me, like, a month and a half to recover emotionally. Physically, obviously, I was okay, but emotionally I was not. I left with the 'what if.' Obviously, we were building a connection."

Beverly added, "He saw and felt exactly what I was seeing and feeling. And I know they didn’t show a lot of our moments, but we did have a lot of cute little moments." Beverly revealed that she and Grant had kissed (but not on premiere night), but it wasn't aired on the show.

Beverly is now looking forward to a possible run on Bachelor in Paradise season 10. She said she'd be "1000 percent" open to it. Beverly shared, "I feel like if I would have made it further [on The Bachelor], I probably wouldn’t have considered Paradise, but because I didn’t make it that far, yes, because I do want to get married. I’m 30 years old. I’m ready for kids and family. I’ve always been a relationship type of girl."

It's always unfortunate when Bachelor franchise contestants have to leave due to emergencies, and Beverly's ordeal was especially traumatic. It's terrible to imagine how scared she must've been to be rushed into emergency surgery, when she was fine just a few days before. Like Joan Vassos, who had to leave Gerry Turner's Golden Bachelor season early in order to deal with a family emergency and later became the first-ever star of The Golden BacheloretteBeverly deserves another chance to find love on Bachelor in Paradise season 10.

While it's sad that Beverly's time with Grant was cut short, it's good that she's seeing her experience as a sign that it wasn't meant to be. She was rightfully very disappointed with the way that things turned out for her on the show, but she's now looking to the future. Hopefully, Beverly will find the love of her life sooner rather than later.
