Magic Johnson goes viral for his special message to Stephen Curry.

After Stephen Curry won the Magic Johnson award for the second time in his career, the Lakers legend himself made a statement to honor the occasion. While Magic's message was no doubt meant to be innocent and lighthearted, one particular bit at the end had fans all worked up on social media.

"Congratulations to Stephen Curry on winning his second PBWA Magic Johnson Award honoring a player who displays 'cooperation and grace in dealing with the media and fans' both on and off the court! By the way, I had fun hanging out with your mom last night at the Sparks home opener!"

Of course, Magic was seen exchanging pleasantries with Steph's mother, Sonya, at the Sparks game in Los Angeles the other night and it's no surprise that the two are familiar with each other given their legendary status in the state of California.

Even so, fans weren't expecting Magic to bring it up for this occasion and many were caught off-guard by how the way he worded their meeting at the end of his message.

NBA social media is known to be a particularly wild place and nothing is off the table when it comes to making memes and jokes. In this case, the opportunity was just too good to pass up.

Predictably, the comment section was an absolute madhouse and everyone piled in to make their joke and earn their likes. Unfortunately for Magic, his phone was probably lighting up all night with the replies coming in for that single post.

In the end, the situation is all in good fun and everyone knows that Magic Johnson would never try to intentionally disrespect Steph or Sonya in any way. But for a guy who is so high up the NBA totem pole, he may want to consider having someone else do the posting for him.

Stephen Curry Is Not Done Yet

While Steph may be out of the playoffs entirely, it doesn't mean he's stopped winning. His most recent victory was in the form of the PNWA Magic Johnson Award, which is meant to honor players who combine excellence on the court with cooperation when dealing with media members and fans. As a superstar who stays humble and always pays his duty to the media and fans, there isn't anyone more deserving of the award, and clearly, even Magic Johnson himself agrees.

Unfortunately, while Steph has come off another All-Star-worthy season, his Warriors did not fare so well after finishing 10th in the Western Conference. Now, they face an uncertain offseason with Klay Thomson headed for free agency and Draymond Green likely to be engaged in trade rumors all summer long.

With change almost inevitable, it's going to be a challenge for Curry to maintain his usual standard of play but there is faith that he still has enough left in the tank to power one last championship run. If he can stay healthy and the Warriors can rebuild their supporting cast, it could be all that Steph needs to make things interesting in San Francisco.
