New York Rangers Fans Send a Clear Warning to the Front Office on Hiring Their Next Head Coach

The New York Rangers are officially without a head coach following today's decision by general manager Chris Drury to fire Peter Laviolette after a disastrous year that resulted in their missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The fact that Laviolette led the Rangers to the President's Trophy and the Eastern Conference Final last year wasn't enough to save his job after several multi-game losing streaks and reports of internal conflicts behind the scenes.

And while there are several notable names on the open market in terms of available head coaches, one names sticks out above the rest for controversial reasons.

Joel Quenneville, a 3-time Stanley Cup winner with the Chicago Blackhawks, resigned as coach of the Florida Panthers in October 2021 after a stunning controversy involving former Blackhawks forward Kyle Beach came to light.

He was recently re-instated by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, but has yet to be hired in any official capacity.

One Rangers fan is making it clear that the Rangers may as well fold if Drury decides to hire Quenneville as Laviolette's replacement:

Rangers fans are especially on edge in recent days, not only because of their team's disappointing performance but also because of the controversy that just came to light in the last week involving star forward Artemi Panarin and a settlement that was paid out by the club.

Controversy aside, Quenneville has a career coaching record of 969-572-77 with the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche, Blackhawks and Panthers.
