New York Rangers Officially Hit Rock Bottom After Blowout Loss to the Carolina Hurricanes

Last season, the New York Rangers won the President's Trophy, and after an intriguing off-season, they came into 2024/25 with the hopes of finally going on a deep Stanley Cup run.

Unfortunately, through drama both on and off the ice, injuries, struggles and the failure from their Head Coach to adapt, this is a team that has been out of the race in the Eastern Conference for quite some time.

On Saturday, it became official as the team fell 7-3 against the Carolina Hurricanes, officially eliminating the blueshirts from post-season contention as their disappointing run came to an official end.

Unfortunately, everywhere someone would look at this current franchise is full of negatives, and after the team traded away some intriguing young talents, their future and their present is certainly murky.

With a 37-36-7 record on the season, the Rangers managed to stay in the fight for a lot longer than they should have given their overall struggles, and now, they head into the 2025 summer as a team that needs to make many, many changes, with the expectation being that they move on from Peter Laviolette and potentially GM Chris Drury as well.

Ultimately though, this is a franchise that was so close to Stanley Cup glory, as they've made the Eastern Conference Finals twice in the past three years, but with part of the intriguing young core that helped them get there now officially traded, they've got some huge questions to answer if they wish to bounce back from a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
