The 2-7 Las Vegas Raiders are reeling after five straight losses, including last week's 41-24 defeat in Cincinnati against the Bengals.
The Raiders defense was on the wrong end of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's five touchdown passes, which tied a career high. Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby tried to slow Burrow down with three quarterback hits, but it wasn't nearly enough.
During the second quarter, Crosby laid an additional hit on Burrow after a play had been whistled dead. Despite making helmet-to-helmet contact, the two showed respect to one another after the play.
On Saturday, the NFL announced that Crosby was fined $11,255 for the incident, which the league deemed unnecessary roughness.
It marks the eighth fine of Crosby's six-year NFL career, and his second this season for unnecessary roughness. In total, the three-time Pro Bowler has been docked over $130,000 since 2019.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reposted a video clip of the play on X.
Even with the Raiders struggling and allowing 27.9 points per game (fourth-worst in the NFL), Crosby has been a menace to opposing quarterbacks through eight games. The 27-year-old has racked up 6.5 sacks, 14 quarterback hits, 29 tackles and four pass breakups.
The Raiders are on a bye in Week 10 but will return to action in Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins.
