NFL Insider Reveals Raiders' 'Big Issue' Led to Davante Adams' Trade Request

Star wide receiver Davante Adams confirmed the rumors that he's grown unhappy with the Las Vegas Raiders when he requested a trade.

NFL rumors: Raiders' 'big issue' forcing Davante Adams into trade request

While it wasn't surprising, it compounded the tough campaign of the Raiders, who have only won two of their first five games. Losing Adams could adversely impact the team's already lethargic offense, which is in the bottom half of the league.

There have been whispers that Adams wanted a trade because he wants to reunite with New York Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The pair had plenty of success during their stint with the Green Bay Packers, where Adams became the NFL's receiving touchdowns leader twice.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, playing with a quality signal-caller was a huge factor in Adams' desire to leave Las Vegas.

"My sense is the lack of a solution at the quarterback position was a factor in his decision-making," wrote Fowler. "He has been there two-plus seasons, and there's no clear solution.

"I can't speak for Adams, but after asking around, some people in the building believe that was a big issue for him."

Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew have split time at quarterback for the Raiders this season.

The Packers shipped the 31-year-old Adams to the Raiders in 2022 in exchange for draft picks. He then signed a five-year, $141.25 million deal, which was the highest contract ever for a wide receiver at that time.

But with the Raiders still going nowhere, the three-time All-Pro First Team member has become dissatisfied.

Fowler, however, noted that trading Adams won't be that easy.

"The Raiders have told at least one team involved in a potential trade they don't plan to front any of the bill on his $16.89 million salary," revealed Fowler. "Perhaps negotiations change that, but that has been the perceived stance from Las Vegas."

The Jets and the New Orleans Saints are reportedly the frontrunners to land Adams, who's still nursing a hamstring injury.
