In the NFL, players get fined all the time. Whether it be penalties or other things, the NFL has ramped up how much money they are essentially taking away from the players. And, that has happened to players on the Las Vegas Raiders a lot this year, specifically guys like Maxx Crosby, who have racked up an average salary's worth of fines this year for late hits, unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and more.
Well, he's not the only one on the team who's been hit with fines. We have seen guys like Adam Butler get some, Ameer Abdullah and even Amari Gainer get fines.'
This week, another one is added to the list. A rookie gets his first-ever fine.
According to the Gameday Accountability website, the NFL is fining rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson, for what appears to be an unnecessary roughness (late hit) worth $8,856.32.
This is something that happened last week in their loss to the Denver Broncos, and not this week against the Kansas City Chiefs. So, this just adds to what is already a terrible week for the rookie center.
On Black Friday, when the Raiders lost to the Chiefs, Powers-Johnson snapped the ball early to quarterback Aidan O'Connell, causing a fumble, and the Raiders to lose the game while in position to kick a field goal and walk out of Arrowhead Stadium with a win.
This week has been rough for him, and it's not getting any better. He and the Raiders will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons next.
