"Dancing With the Stars” season 33 contestant Tori Spelling is opening up about the kind of relationship she hopes to find now that she’s single again. “The new thing is not a relationship, but a monogamous situationship,” she explained on the July 7 episode of her podcast “misSPELLING.”
Spelling, 52, went on to share why she is looking for this very specific type of relationship. “… that would fit really nicely into my life because, honestly, right now, I’m focused on my kids and I’m focused on work,” she said.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor went on to describe why the “monogamous” part of her ideal union is important to her. “It’s like a situationship, but you’re not with anyone else,” Spelling said. “So it just kind of goes with your time and freedom and they’re there.”
Spelling continued, “Like, with my five kids, I can’t imagine bringing a guy into this world,” she revealed. “He would be like, Ah! And run screaming.”
Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott in March of 2024 after 18 years of marriage. Their tumultuous relationship played out publicly throughout their reality show “Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.” They share five children together, Liam, 18, Stella, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 8.
A little over a year after the split, Spelling opened up about her fears in a candid conversation with Aubrey O’Day during an episode of “misSPELLING.” “I don’t want to be with somebody, but I do want to be. I just don’t want to be alone,” the actor admitted.
She then got emotional, breaking down in tears and explaining, “You know me. I’m positive. I just — I don’t want to die alone.” Spelling acknowledged her own strength, but revealed it was not always something that felt good to her. “I’m resilient, but what does it mean at the end of the day?” she mused.
According to Spelling, she has had a difficult time with her self-esteem for as long as she can remember. “I think people assume when you’re in this business … you’re so confident,” she shared with People. “I’ve had a lack of confidence my entire life and I never felt worthy enough.”
Through raising her children, Spelling realized that the confidence she was trying to instill in them was missing in herself. But it’s something she began working on as she entered a new phase in her life. “… this is my Tori 2.0 time and it really seems to be just kind of a fresh start and my second chapter,” she optimistically shared.
