Ogbo Okoronkwo Sends 4-Word Message to Browns After Termination

Ogbo Okoronkwo took to social media with a short message after being let go by the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns announced the move involving Okoronkwo on Thursday, bidding goodbye in a post.

“Obeezy, the ultimate good vibes, high-energy guy. Thank you for all you brought to our team. Good luck in the next chapter,” the post on the team account read.

Okoronkwo signed a three-year, $19 million deal with the Browns and was entering the final year of his contract. Over two seasons in Cleveland, he appeared in 30 games—making five starts—and recorded 7.5 sacks, 54 tackles, and one forced fumble. The Browns saved $3.36 million with the move and will carry $1.95 million in dead cap.

Following news of his departure, Okoronkwo kept his message to Browns fans and the organization short and sincere.

Browns Have Option Opposite of Myles Garrett

The Browns have two young pass rushers they like in Isaiah McGuire and Alex Wright, who was recently cleared following a torn triceps muscle last season. Wright has started games previously with the Browns and is eager to win the starting spot opposite Myles Garrett.

“Physically I’ve been stronger than ever,” Wright told cleveland.com. “I feel like I haven’t lost a step. … It was about eight months since I took a team rep. So just for that, to get that under my belt, I mean, I feel happy to be out here.

“I feel better than what I was before. I came back bigger, stronger, faster than I was. So I mean, I feel the arm is not an issue. My tricep(s) is not an issue no more. I’m saying that right now. Other than that, I just plan on finishing what I started.”

The Browns also added former first-round pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the mix this offseason in free agency. He tallied 15 sacks over four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 45 starts. Tryon-Shoyinka was the No. 32 overall pick in 2021.

Tyron-Shoyinka is excited to get to work as a member of Jim Schwartz’s defense.

“I feel like I’m not even in the peak of my career,” he said after signing with the Browns in March. “This is where things can get going in the right direction where I’m allowed to just be free and just be the player where I’m going 100 miles an hour every play and Schwartz’s defense is perfect for that.”

Myles Garrett Predicts ‘Best’ Season After Contract Drama

The spot opposite Garrett is a critical role in the Browns’ defense. If that player can generate consistent pressure, it forces offenses to play Garrett more honestly, which is no easy task against the perennial Pro Bowler and former Defensive Player of the Year.

Garrett endured an offseason of contract drama but returns poised to put up big numbers once again in Cleveland.

“I look forward to having my best season for sure, and I think it’s trending that way. Been really good, and I think everything’s pointed in that direction,” Garrett said during minicamp. “And I like where we are as a defensive unit. It’s really firing, really rolling, and I think it’s really clicking as far as the scheme and the plays, especially early on. That’s big.”

Training camp will rev up for Garrett and the Browns in late July.
