“Our Hearts Have Never Been Fuller”: Love Is Blind’s Kenny Barnes and Wife Alexandra Welcome Their First Baby With Tears of Joy

Kenny Barnes and his wife are officially parents!

Barnes, who appeared on season 1 of the Netflix reality TV show Love Is Blind, and his wife Alex, welcomed their first baby together, daughter Vivienne Taylor Barnes, on Tuesday, June 17. The couple's daughter was born in Charlotte, N.C., weighing 7 lbs., 2 oz. and measuring 20 inches long at birth.

"Meet our Vivienne Taylor! Although we didn't find out the gender during pregnancy, based on the baby's heart rate throughout the 9 months we thought it would be a boy," Barnes tells PEOPLE. "We went to the hospital with a few names for each gender but have always loved the name Vivienne and new it would be the perfect fit!"

"Her middle name, Taylor, is a family name on Alex's side — it is her sister's middle name and goes way back in her family tree as well," he continues. "We loved the idea of creating a meaningful family connection through our little girls' name."

Now that they've welcomed their little one, Barnes says his family of three is at home relaxing and settling into their new normal.

"We're settling in well at home as a family of three (+ our two corgis who have been wonderful since bringing her home!)," Barnes tells PEOPLE. "Penni and Dolli are really turning into great big sisters!"

"We are adjusting to our new rhythm, learning to sleep when we can and soaking up every precious moment and newborn snuggles with Vivienne."

Kenny and Alex confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE in February that they were expecting their first baby together. At the time, they shared that they were waiting until the baby’s arrival to learn the sex. According to the couple, there was a good reason to wait.

"Both of us are quite the planners, but to everyone's surprise, we are not going to find out the gender before our baby's arrival," they said at the time. "We are so excited for the biggest surprise of our lives and have so much to look forward to."

"We tossed around a ton of names, of course, but will go into the hospital with a few that we love and wait until we meet our precious baby girl or boy."

Back in February, the couple said they considered themselves “so blessed" and added that they had “prayed for this sweet baby for a long time."

At the time, Alex said she was shocked to discover she was pregnant and had been heading out for a dinner with her friend when she learned the exciting news.

"Before I went out with a neighbor friend for the night, I realized it was the same time of the month that we typically tested so I figured, 'Why not?' " she remembered. "I have five minutes, I'll say a prayer and take a quick test.'"

After a few minutes, the results were in — their family of two was becoming a family of three. “Meanwhile, my poor friend was ringing our doorbell as Kenny and I had our jaws on the floor upstairs," Alexandra quipped.

Kenny and Alex met after his appearance on the Netflix dating series, which was filmed in the fall of 2018. In August 2020, Kenny popped the question at Duke Mansion in Charlotte after dating a little over one year, he revealed exclusively to PEOPLE.
