The Green Bay Packers are heading into a 2025 NFL season that could see them become serious Super Bowl contenders. Over the last two years, they have shown signs of being a contender, but have come up short in the playoffs.
At this point, there are a couple of potential concerns for the Packers. They will need to answer those questions in order to become the kind of team they’re hoping to be.
One of the biggest questions has to do with the defensive secondary. After moving on from star cornerback Jaire Alexander, Green Bay will need someone to step up. While many think the team needs to sign an outside free agent, the Packers may already have their defensive X-Factor on the roster.
Javon Bullard, the team’s No. 58 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, could become the guy Green Bay needs to step up.
Brad Majors of Packers Talk has named Bullard as one of the “unsung heroes” who could make or break the 2025 season.
“With Jaire Alexander’s departure potentially opening more opportunities, Bullard’s positional flexibility could prove invaluable as the Packers look to improve their defensive rankings in 2025.”
During his rookie season with the Packers, Bullard played in 15 games. He racked up 90 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery and a defended pass. Bullard is just 22 years old with plenty of room to improve.
As a rookie, Bullard showed enough promise to expect a year two leap. He’s not known as a cornerback, but could be the kind of piece that can step up into a bigger role. Bullard will be a name worth keeping a close eye on.
Hopefully, he’s able to rise to the occasion and become a key X-Factor for the Green Bay defense. He has the talent to be a special piece for Jeff Hafley’s defense.
Unless Brian Gutekunst decides to make an outside move, Bullard will likely be given a much bigger role within the 2025 Packers’ defense.
