Packers QB Jordan Love has emphatic reaction to Jaire Alexander trade talks

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love doesn’t want the team to trade cornerback Jaire Alexander this offseason. While appearing on the Up & Adams Show, Love was asked if he spoke to Alexander about possibly being traded. Love said he has now spoken to the former Louisville cornerback about trade talks but stressed how important he is to the team.

Packers QB Jordan Love has emphatic reaction to Jaire Alexander trade talks

“Ja, he’s got his own world going on. I’m going to let him handle his own business and see what’s going on. But that’s my guy right there,” Love told host Kay Adams, per NFL.com. He’s definitely a player we need back. Just the play style he plays with, who he is on the field. I mean, that’s a guy we need to have around. So, we’ll see what happens.”

Jaire Alexander has missed a total of half of the Packers’ games in the last four seasons, which has led to him being the center of trade discussions. He signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension in 2022 and was named to the Pro Bowl that year. In 2023 and 2024, Alexander played in a total of 14 of the possible 34 games due to injuries.

Despite having trouble staying on the field, Jordan Love wants Alexander to remain in Green Bay. “Locker room, he’s a character,” Love said. “He’s always a guy that interacts with everybody on the team. He jokes around but he also has that serious side to him as a competitor, and obviously the player on the field is a whole ‘nother area that we would be losing if we didn’t have him. I’m hoping Ja’s still there with us, we’ll see. But that’s my guy right there.”

Alexander has been with the Packers since being drafted by the team in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In his career, Alexander has been named to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro Second Team twice. In 78 career games, Alexander has recorded 12 interceptions 70 passes defended and one defensive touchdown.

If Alexander is not traded, he and Love will look to help the Packers make a Super Bowl run in 2025. Last year, the Packers finished 11-6 and lost in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
