Packers Reveal Unfortunate Injury News Heading Into Playoffs

The Green Bay Packers have had a very successful season going into their Week 18 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Despite being third in the NFC North, they sit with an 11-5 record and hold the No. 7 seed in the playoff, which, as of now, means a date with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round.

They've also been lucky enough to keep long-term injuries to star players to a minimum, except for cornerback Jaire Alexander, who started just seven games this season and hasn't played since Week 11.

There was hope that he could return for the start of the playoffs, but the Packers just revealed that he would be placed on the injured reserve with a PCL sprain.

That now means Alexander must sit out for at least the next four games and will only be eligible to return this season if Green Bay makes the Super Bowl,

This is a huge blow for the defense, which has performed well this season, ranking sixth in points per game (19.6) and eight in total yards per game (321.4).

This is now the third time in four years that Alexander has missed a significant amount of the season after playing just four games in 2021 and seven in 2023.

When healthy, he's one of the most effective cornerbacks in the NFL, making two Pro Bowls and being named Second-Team All-Pro twice in two of the four seasons he's started at least 11 games (2020 and 2022).
