Packers’ Zach Tom Breaks Silence on Contract Talks

Zach Tom might be the most dominant player along the Green Bay Packers‘ offensive line.

Tom, 26, is coming off one of the strongest seasons of his career, allowing just three sacks while garnering an elite 90 run-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, underscoring how well-rounded a guard he is and how vital he is to the Packers’ offensive success.

The former fourth-round pick has well outplayed his draft slotting and is eligible for a new deal, as talks intensify leading up to the 2025 NFL season getting underway.

Zach Tom Weighs in On Possible Green Bay Packers Contract Extension

Unlike fellow guard, veteran Elgton Jenkins, who is sitting out the Packers’ voluntary offseason program, Tom is going about his business this spring. That’s by design.

“I don’t really think it’ll do me any good to sit out,” Tom said, via Matt Schneidman of TheAthletic.com. “I’m trying not to worry about the contract situation. I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team. And being here with the guys, I think that’s worth a lot more . . . the contract situation will take care of itself. So I’m just here working and grinding with the guys. If I wasn’t here, I’d probably be somewhere just not doing anything. I want to be here, obviously.”

Tom is entering the final year of his rookie deal, set to make just over $1.04 million this season, and appears ready to let his play on the field — and before that his presence on the field and around the building this spring and summer, speak for itself when it comes to getting paid anywhere closer to his worth as one of the top guards in the league.
