"I know, like, when I'm gonna be ready for that next phase, I'm gonna be full-on ready," the 'Summer House' star said on the 'LadyGang' podcast
Bravo fans constantly want to know when Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover plan to take the next step in their relationship, but the reality stars don’t consider it a top priority.
“Me and Craig rarely, like, talk about when are we getting engaged, when are we having a baby,” DeSorbo, 32, said on the Tuesday, July 23 episode of the LadyGang podcast. “Like, of course, we've had those conversations, but it's not as much as everyone else is having them. So, like, we don't really get that stressed out about it.”
The Summer House star understands why viewers often ask her and the Southern Charm lead, 35, about when they want to get married and have kids, a topic that has been covered on both of their Bravo shows.
“I don't get angry about it because I can remember the day my Lord and savior, Kim Kardashian, appeared on my television screen and I remember she was going throughout her life and she was about to marry Kanye West and they weren't going to put it on an episode,” DeSorbo said. “And I was livid. I couldn't believe it. I said, how dare she do this to us? We've watched her entire life, and now she's not going to show us her wedding. And I felt very entitled to it.”
As a result, DeSorbo better understands her own fans’ desire to question her personal life.
“When people are, like, ‘When are you getting engaged? When are you having a baby?’ I never get offended by it because I'm, like, yes, you're watching it on TV. Like, that is the normal question,” the Bravolebrity said. “I wanted to see Kim Kardashian's wedding dress the moment she walked down the aisle. Yeah. So I never get offended by it.”
DeSorbo also thinks it feels like she and Conover “have been dating for so much longer than we have” because they’ve appeared on Summer House, Southern Charm and Winter House.
“So we kind of, like, did that to ourselves in a way where it seemed like, oh my God, they've been together for, like, years,” she said. “When in reality, we've really only been dating for two and a half years.”
The Giggly Squad podcast co-host suspects that Conover feels more ready for those next steps because a lot of his friends in Charleston, South Carolina, have tied the knot and welcomed little ones.
“I think it's partly because he is in South Carolina, and, like, that is just the norm,” DeSorbo said. “Like, all of his friends have been married. They have, like, 12 kids. They're, like, starting a commune down there. So I don't … it is just, like, very different. And he doesn't have a biological clock. So yeah, I'm not worried about it.”
Before moving forward with Conover, DeSorbo wants to focus on her career. “Last time a boyfriend wanted to propose to me, I broke out into hives, and I ran away,” she quipped. “And so, also, like, your career as a woman does like, people can say whatever they want, but, like, when we do get married and have babies, people look at you different.”
She’s expressed as much to Conover, too. “I literally just said this to Craig, I was like, I know myself, and I can't move to the next phase of my life until I truly, truly done with something,” DeSorbo said.
The Amazon host currently finds herself in a phase of life where “I love doing 12-step skincare and watching Love Island until I can't see,” she said. “Like, I love being home. So I know, like, when I'm gonna be ready for that next phase, I'm gonna be full-on ready.”
Ultimately, DeSorbo feels like she and Conover “balance each other really well” because she finds him “a little bit more sensitive than me” and “a little bit more of, like, a hopeless romantic,” whereas she admits she can “sometimes feel myself being, like, too cold.”
“He likes me so much more than I like him, but it's just [because] I've lived in New York City for 10 years,” DeSorbo continued. “Like, that just is a harder city. Like, I've dated the worst people ever. So I feel like I kind of taught myself how to, like, self soothe.”
DeSorbo previously told PEOPLE that she’ll get engaged to Conover when she feels ready.
“I like to do things on my timeline because it's my life,” she said. “I am very open to everyone's opinions because we do film a TV show and we are all friends and so I would never get mad at someone just saying what they thought to me, whether I cared or not. But me and Craig will definitely figure out our next steps on my timeline.”
