Prior to Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover's December 2024 split, Paige gave Craig some major career advice seen on Southern Charm Season 10, Episode 6.
During the January 16 episode, the then-couple FaceTimed, and Paige shared her idea with Craig: He should quit his podcast with Austen Kroll to focus on his true passion.
"Pillows and Beer is your side hustle. Sewing Down South is your thing," she said. "The whole point of the podcast is to, like, put out good vibes and laugh and talk with your friend in a very real way. And if you guys can't even do that, then why is the podcast even a question? I think you two need to sit down and legit dissolve the whole thing."
While Craig said the thing that worried him was the "finality" of it all, Paige still encouraged him to "start over" with a new podcast of his own.
"Like, why would you not have a podcast like 'Craig and Friends'?" she asked. "You rebrand. You have your own new name. It's a whole new vibe. It's not Pillows and Beer."
"That's a great point," Craig replied. "And then just have confidence in myself to do it."
"You never shut up. You can do a podcast on your own. It's just a clean slate. It's like new energy," she added. "What are you holding on to? You have to sit and think, like, what you want."
While on the phone with Paige, Craig seemed to be ready to end the podcast.
"I feel like I have to squash this podcast thing, 'cause I think it's hanging over our heads," he said. "Austen's gonna have trouble with that, because he feels entitled to it."
During Salley Carson's housewarming party later in the episode, he finally brought up the idea to Austen.
"The podcast was only good because of our friendship," he told Austen. "Now, the chemistry's just not there anymore.".
"Wait, we're doing this?" Austen responded. "Wow."
Austen previously hinted that the two may have stopped recording at one time. While giving BravoTV.com a tour of his office, Austen stated, "I used to podcast here every other day with Craig for Pillows and Beer. Maybe we will again."
However, it seems the microphones eventually came back on. The men last uploaded a new podcast episode in November before taking a holiday break.
In addition to his podcast with Austen, Craig owns lifestyle brand Sewing Down South, which now has stores in Charleston and Nashville. Additionally, he and Austen are investors in New York City restaurant Carriage House, and the friends also recently teamed up to open a new bar and restaurant in Charleston, By the Way.
On December 30, Paige announced her split from Craig during an episode of her Giggly Squad podcast. "Craig and I have decided to no longer be together," she said. "It's weird, obviously it's weird. Like, it's very weird. I wasn't expecting this, obviously, when we first started dating, like you don't think, 'Oh, what's going to happen? Will we get married, will we not? You just kind of are in this relationship, and as you get older — I mean I started dating Craig when I was 29 and I'm 32 now."
"And your thirties, for women, really are very transformative, and you change a lot and you grow a lot, and him as well," she continued. "Not to sound traditional and old-fashioned, but this is not a situation where I have a 50-part series of like, 'Who the f--k was I dating?' Like, could not be more opposite."
On January 7, Craig shared his perspective in a video posted to Instagram Stories. "This has all been very, very unexpected, to say the least. But I guess life has to, I gotta start living it, whatever that looks like. Whatever my new normal looks like, I have to start," he said. "Gratitude will get you through this. [With] time comes clarity, all of the advice I'm trying to listen to. Right before the holidays, I was very shocked and it's OK. It takes two people to be in a relationship and you can't control other people. You can only control how you react to it. So, gonna be kind to Paige and me and yourselves and all of that good stuff. I am still processing everything, which is normal. I mean, [it was a] 3-year relationship; it's your best friend who you talk to all day every day; and then they're just gone."
