Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs gunning to snatch key Ravens star away from Lamar Jackson

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a crucial NFL offseason as they look to maintain their dominance in the AFC and rebound from a disappointing Super Bowl loss, by going after one of Lamar Jackson's assets.

Despite a strong 17-3 season record and playoff victories over the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans, Kansas City fell short in the final game of the season, suffering a 40-22 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles.

A major part of the loss was the defeat to the terrible offensive line on the night, that left Patrick Mahomes regularly exposed and shut down whilst is targets were also locked up further down the Caesars Superdome field.

So now Andy Reid and Matt Nagy have to go back to the drawing board, and one potential move is the possible acquisition of Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle, Ronnie Stanley.

According to Jacob Camenker of USA Today, Kansas City is among the leading contenders to sign the veteran lineman in free agency.

Stanley's potential impact on the Chiefs' offense

Stanley, 30, has been a fixture on Baltimore's offensive line since being selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Over his nine-year career, he has established himself as one of the league's premier left tackles, earning All-Pro honors and making two Pro Bowl appearances.

His presence has been instrumental in the success of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Baltimore's consistently competitive standing in the AFC.

And the Chiefs remain a powerhouse, having appeared in the AFC Championship Game in five of the past six seasons and securing two Super Bowl titles in the last three years.

However, with free agency looming on March 12, the team must address key areas to sustain its championship-caliber roster if they want to ensure they continue getting the best out of Mahomes.

A move would provide the 29-year-old with much-needed protection, a necessity highlighted by the Chiefs' struggles in 2024. Adding an experienced and skilled lineman like Stanley would bolster Reid's protection scheme, ensuring the QB has the time needed to execute plays at an elite level.
