Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance Sunday to do something no NFL team has ever done. With a win, they'd become the first team to win three straight Super Bowl titles.
If Mahomes retired after this weekend, he'd be a first-ballot Hall of Famer regardless of the result for Super Bowl LIX. He's already a three-time champion with two MVP awards on his résumé. Some fans believe he's in position to eventually dethrone Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback of all-time. However, he claims that's the furthest thing from his mind.

"No, I'm just trying to be the greatest Patrick Mahomes that I can be," Mahomes said, via NFL.com. "I mean, that's obviously a goal of anyone's, is to be the greatest at their profession. But in order to do that, you have to be the greatest that you can be every single day. And if that's on the field and the work ethic I put in or off the field in the father and husband that I am, I'm gonna try to be the greatest in that way. And whenever I'm done with football, if I leave everything out there the way that I feel like I have so far, as far as effort and mentality, I'll be happy with the results and I'll let others talk about who the greatest is of whatever profession that is."
With Super Bowl LIX almost here, Mahomes' father was asked about the upcoming matchup between the Chiefs and Eagles.
Pat Mahomes Sr. was asked by TMZ if he has any advice for his son. He kept things simple.
"Players make plays," Mahomes' father said.
Mahomes should have no trouble making plays under the bright lights Sunday.
During last year's Super Bowl, Mahomes had 333 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception in an overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers.
When the Chiefs and Eagles met in Super Bowl LVII, Mahomes had three touchdown passes in a comeback victory.
The Chiefs are hoping for more "Mahomes magic" on Sunday. Kickoff for Super Bowl LIX is at 6:30 p.m. ET.
