Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs had a very busy 2025 NFL Draft week, with the AFC Champions getting good reviews on the picks they made.
With the No. 32 pick overall, the Chiefs selected offensive tackle Josh Simmons, widely regarded as one of the top players at his position in all of college football.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes standout surrendered just one hurry, with no quarterback hits or sacks allowed, on 158 pass-blocking snaps in 2024 before getting hurt in the sixth game of the season. Also, he was only penalized one time in 2024 prior to suffering the injury (a false start).
Patrick Mahomes look alike turns a mall upside down
It's no surprise that Patrick Mahomes is one of the most popular players in the NFL, and one of the most known figures in professional sports. And that's something that influencers and social media personalities know very well, such as Z, @zbo.nohomes on TikTok and zbo4lean on Instagram. He calls himself the "Walmart Pat Mahomes."
Z teamed up with prankster Victor Galvan - VicInTheGame on Instagram and YouTube - a content creator with close to 58,000 followers on Instagram - two years ago for a video that went viral. Z's assignment was to walk through malls in Omaha and Kansas City to see what kind of chaos ensued.
The video posted on YouTube shows Z walking through the food court with a bodyguard as shoppers grabbed their cellphones and yelled out at him. Some fans walked right up to the man with curly hair, eyes hidden behind sunglasses, and asked for a picture. Only few people suspected that the man was not Patrick Mahomes, but rather a look alike.
The Chiefs focus on the 2025 regular season
According to NFL Draft analyst Chad Reuter, the Kansas City Chiefs were one of the best teams when it came to selecting players at the event. Josh Simmons will be an excellent pick at a major position of need for the Chiefs, wrote the expert, if he's able to return to form after recovering from the knee injury that shortened his 2024 season.
"(Defensive tackle) Norman-Lott is a bit undersized (6-2, 291 pounds) and must be more consistent to justify his draft slot. (Edge) Ashton Gillotte and (cornerback) Nohl Williams meet Chiefs archetypes for their respective positions." he added.
Kansas City is hungry for more championships and, in order to do so, they must have the best protection available for Patrick Mahomes. They also need their young players like wide receiver Xavier Worthy and running back Isiah Pacheco to step up and add offensive power to a unit that still has legendary tight end Travis Kelce on their side.
