The Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans are rivals, and that was on display Saturday as KC notched another NFL victory, 27-19, over the visitors.

At the same time, the NFL is a brotherhood. So the chilling scene that includes an injury, an extended break in the action and an ambulance ride to the hospital in a sense affects all involved.

In this case, all eyes are on wide receiver Tank Dell of the Texans after he suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury.

The incident occurred in the third quarter as the speedy Dell grabbed a 30-yard touchdown pass from CJ Stroud to make it a one-point game. There was a collision  when teammate Jared Wayne bumped into Dell while diving for the ball.

To their credit, medical staff immediately rushed onto the field to assist Dell and to tend to his hurt knee.

Dell was eventually carted off the field and transported to a Kansas City-area hospital. A video was shared on social media of the ambulance leaving the stadium shortly after Dell sustained the injury.

An assortment of Chiefs players, led by Patrick Mahomes, sent well-wishes to the fallen player. In Mahomes' case, he did so via a postgame visit with Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud.

“Prayers for Tank,” Mahomes said, adding, Hope we see y’all in the playoffs.”

Stroud responded, Appreciate that. God bless you, bro.”

Later, Stroud said, “That's amazing. That shows his heart and what kind of man of God he is. I pray for him and his family as well. That's very nice of him. That shows what type of heart he has.”

The second-year receiver Dell has dealt with injury challenges before. He broke his leg during his rookie campaign in 2023, and he was shot in the leg at a private event in Sanford, Florida, during the offseason.

This looks like another obstacle for him.

Dell finished with six receptions, 98 yards and a touchdown, meaning he will likely end the 2024 season - assuming this injury is as severe as it seems - with 51 receptions, 667 yards, and three touchdowns.
