Patrick Mahomes Planning 'Revenge Tour' After Super Bowl Blowout

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs got embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59. Outside of a few touchdown drives in garbage time, Andy Reid's offense looked flat at the Caesars Superdome.

Chiefs' pending free agent Charles Omenihu expects Patrick Mahomes to go on 'revenge tour' in 2025 after Super Bowl LIX failure | Yardbarker

Mahomes was under constant duress during the Super Bowl. As a result, he made a few uncharacteristic decisions. In the second quarter alone, he threw a pair of interceptions, including a pick-six that gave the Eagles a commanding 17-0 lead. In the fourth quarter, he fumbled after getting blasted by multiple defensive lineman.

Instead of making excuses for his poor play, Mahomes gave the Eagles credit for dominating the Chiefs in the trenches. He also admit that he simply came up short in one of the biggest moments of his career.

"Credit to the Eagles man, they played better than us from start to finish," Mahomes said. "We didn't start how we wanted to. Obviously, the turnovers hurt. I take all the blame for that. Those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game. They capitalized on them, they scored on one and they got a touchdown immediately after. That's 14 points that I kind of gave them, and it's hard to come back from that when you're in the Super Bowl. I didn't play to my standards and I have to be better next time."

How will Mahomes respond to losing Super Bowl 59? Apparently, he's going to go on a revenge tour.

At least that's what Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu said during an appearance on "Up & Adams" this week.

"Just extreme focus, taking even more control of the organization. We’re gonna get my boy Rashee [Rice] back, so that’s going to be great. With how [Xavier Worthy] has been playing, and hopefully be able to figure out the rest of the pieces. I think it’s going to be big time," Omenihu said. "He probably felt like he didn’t have his best performance and him being who he is and being the best quarterback in the league, he wants to come back and have one of those big seasons. So, I think it’ll be like somebody who’s on a mission for sure."

Mahomes had an underwhelming 2024 season if you simply go by the stats. He had 3,928 passing yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

There's no question Mahomes is still an elite quarterback though. We all saw in the AFC Championship Game that he could just flip the switch at any moment.

It'll be interesting to see how Mahomes and the Chiefs attack this offseason.
