Patrick Mahomes Predicted to Lose Star Teammate After Super Bowl Loss

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a heart-breaking loss in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles after losing 40-22 and failing to become the first team to win three straight in NFL history.

It was a rough game for the offense and especially quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who completed 21-of-32 passes for three touchdowns and two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six.

However, it now means it's time for him and the rest of the team to move on and focus on next season.

Unfortunately for them though, they could be losing some key pieces to free agency, including offensive guard Trey Smith, who Nick Brinkerhoff of USA Today predicts will sign with the Chicago Bears.

This would be a huge blow for the Chiefs and Mahomes, as Smith finished the season making his first Pro Bowl after playing 1,115 snaps, committing just nine penalties and allowing zero sacks.

By the end of the season, Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 78.8, which ranked ninth among all offensive guards. He also received a 70.6 pass-blocking grade and an 80.8 run-blocking grade.

Of course, this scenario would be bad for Mahomes, but it would be amazing for Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, as he was sacked 68 times, which is the most of anyone in the league.

If Chicago does sign him, it will cost a lot of money, as Spotrac currently predicts Smith will sign a contract earning $19.7 million annually.
