The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off their NFL training camp on Tuesday, July 22nd, at the NovaCare Complex.
This marks the beginning of full-contact practices, giving coaches a clearer look at position battles and how well the rookies are adapting to the pro level.
Here's a look at an early roster project ahead of Philly's 2025 NFL training camp.
Quarterback (3)
Starter: Jalen Hurts
Backups: Tanner McKee, Kyle McCord*
The skinny: The Eagles went and selected Kyle McCord in the sixth round of this year's draft. Regardless of what fans thought of the pick, he is a baller, and there is a real chance that he can beat out McKee for QB2. If anything, he should be able to do what it takes to leave Dorian Thompson-Robinson without a job.
Running back (4)
Starters: Saquon Barkley
Backups: Will Shipley, A.J. Dillon, Tyrion-Davis Price
The skinny: The Eagles will naturally rely heavily on Saquon Barkley, though second-year rusher Will Shipley should see more opportunities this fall as his backup.
Wide receiver (6)
Starters: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson
Backups: Avery Williams, Johnny Wilson, Terrace Marshall Jr.
The skinny: The Eagles didn't draft another weapon for Hurts this year, but that just means they're confident in the wide receiver room that they're already working with. This will be a tough position battle, especially for Williams and Wilson. I have them winning a spot over second-year pass catcher Anias Smith.
Tight end (3)
Starter: Dallas Goedert
Backups: Grant Calacaterra, Harrison Bryant
The skinny: Rumors spread ahead of the NFL draft that Goedert was on the trading block, but they ended up signing him to a new deal. That means this room shouldn't look different until 2026.
Offensive line (10 )
Starts: Jordan Mailata (LT), Landon Dickerson (LG), Cam Jurgens(C), Tyler Steen (RG), Lane Johnson (RT),
Backups: Trevor Keegan, Kenyon Green, Drew Kendall*, Myles Hinton*, Matt Pryor
The skinny: The Eagles added two versatile offensive linemen in the draft, Kendall and Hinton. While they won't be ready to start right away, "Stoutland U" will at least have them ready as a rotational option for the season.
Defensive Line (10)
Starters: Nolan Smith (DE), Jalen Carter (DT), Moro Ojomo (DT), Jalyx Hunt (DE), Jordan Davis (NT)
Backups: Ty Robinson, Thomas Booker, Azeez Ojulari, Joshua Uche, Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The skinny: Pending how well things go for rookie Ty Robinson this summer, we could see him take Ojomo's starting job.
Linebacker (5)
Starters: Zack Baun (LILB), Nakobe Dean (RILB),
Backups: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Jihaad Campbell*, Smael Mondon Jr.
The skinny: Dean is likely headed to the PUP list, so Eagles' first-round pick Jihaad Campbell is the project next man up. That is, of course, if he's healthy enough himself to put pads on. Trotter Jr. will fill in if not.
Cornerback (6)
Starters: Quinyon Mitchell, Kelee Ringo, Cooper DeJean
Backups: Eli Ricks, Adoree Jackson, Mac McWilliams*
The skinny: The Eagles added another versatile cornerback in Mac McWilliams in the draft, who can play at nickel or on the outside.
Safety (5)
Starters: Reed Blankenship, Andrew Mukuba*,
Backups: Sydney Brown, Tristin McCollum, Andre’ Sam
The skinny: It will be interesting to see how Brown looks for his first healthy summer back since his rookie year. However, if he doesn't live up to veteran expectations, then the Eagles could turn to rookie Andrew Mukuba opposite Blankenship.
Specialists (3)
Starters: Jake Elliott (K), Braden Mann (P), Charley Hughlett (LS)
The skinny: The Rick Lovato era is officially over in Philly. Welcome to the Bird gang, Charley Huglett.
