Philadelphia Eagles Urged To Pursue Big Move For Intriguing Wide Receiver

The 2024 season is coming up quickly and the Philadelphia Eagles are happy with the work that they were able to put in during the offseason. After a brutal collapse down the stretch of the 2023 season, Howie Roseman and company got aggressive this offseason as they look to get back on track.

With that being said, another move may need to be in the cards.

Philadelphia received news that wide receiver DeVante Parker has decided to retire. It was a sudden retirement and one that may have opened up the need for another wide receiver move.

Now, the Philadelphia Eagles are being urged to consider making a big move to bring in a former superstar wideout.

Eagles Today, a Sports Illustrated Fan Nation website, suggested that the Eagles should look at signing former superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas.

“Philadelphia has A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith on the roster who both certainly are stars. Both can haul in a long ball while Thomas’ speciality is shorter throws. He could be the perfect option to bring in — if he’s healthy — to fill the No. 3 receiver role now that Parker is hanging up his cleats.”

If the Philadelphia Eagles truly think that they need a big impact No. 3 wideout, they should look no further than Thomas.

While Thomas has dealt with major injury issues over the last couple of years that have forced him to miss quite a few games, a change of scenery could help him turn things around.

During the 2023 season with the New Orleans Saints, Thomas ended up playing in 10 games. He caught 39 passes for 448 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers show he can still make an impact when he can stay on the field.

Just a few short years ago, Thomas was one of the most feared superstar wide receivers in the NFL. He has always been an elite short-route wide receiver. Jalen Hurts could thrive with a target like Thomas over the middle of the field.

Roseman would likely have major interest in making this kind of move. The Philadelphia Eagles are never shy about taking risks if they think a move can push them closer to a Super Bowl. Signing Thomas would be that kind of move.

Expect to see the Eagles continue looking to make moves if they present themselves. Thomas would make sense after Parker’s retirement. It will be interesting to see if they look into that option.
