Raiders HC Pete Carroll Has Admission About Tom Brady

Raiders HC Pete Carroll makes feelings clear on Tom Brady's involvement in future decisions for franchise

Though Tom Brady is rarely at the Las Vegas Raiders' team facility, his presence looms large over the franchise. He was heavily involved in the team's head coach and general manager searches this offseason.

He may not be involved in day-to-day operations, but he's keeping consistent communication with head coach Pete Carroll.

"Pretty regular," Carroll told Seattle Sports when asked about how much interaction he has with Brady. "We're phone buddies. ... Talking philosophy with Tom, you can imagine what a thrill it is, because he's just the all-time competitor. And it's not just how he played, it's how he lived, it's how he sees the world and how he attacks every opportunity that he had."

Carroll is one of the most celebrated football coaches of the 2000s, but going to the Raiders this late in his career could be seen as a major risk. The team hasn't won a playoff game since 2002, and owner Mark Davis has gone through seven different head coaches since taking over the team.

Carroll essentially admitted that Brady's presence is what drew him to Las Vegas.

"When Tom came on board here, it changed my outlook to come here," Carroll said. "I thought that would be one of the great opportunities of all time."

Last year, the Raiders hired Antonio Pierce, a former linebackers coach with two years of experience, as head coach. Considering where the franchise was, it may have been difficult for them to do better.

Now that Brady is part of ownership, it's clear that the Raiders are a much more appealing destination for top coaching talent.
