Raiders QB Geno Smith Stirs Rumors With Shedeur Sanders Post

THE DEATH STAR

The Las Vegas Raiders seem set at quarterback for the next few years after trading for Geno Smith. However, he has not agreed to a contract extension yet.

At 34, Smith is not a very long-term option for the Raiders and they could start to consider grooming his replacement already. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was commonly linked to Las Vegas before the Smith trade but it seems unlikely the team would want to use their first-round pick on a quarterback now.

If they did, Smith might not have too big of an issue with it. The new Raiders quarterback posted a picture on Instagram of him hanging out with Sanders.

It's not clear the nature of Smith and Sanders' relationship. The latter is considered a pro-ready prospect so having him sit behind a quarterback like Smith for multiple years could create an awkward situation.

Sanders is a quarterback that has often been compared to Smith so perhaps they formed a bond over that. Sanders has been falling down draft boards in recent weeks and if there's a scenario where he drops to the second round, then the Raiders make more sense for him.

At this point, it's unlikely they would use the No. 6 pick on a quarterback.
