Raiders sign another draft pick, leaving one remaining

Chiefs scouting report: Iowa State Cyclones CB Darien Porter

The Las Vegas Raiders did a good job getting their draft picks signed early, with only two exiting rookie minicamp without inking their deals.

Second-round wide receiver Jack Bech and third-round cornerback Darien Porter were the last two draft picks the Raiders had yet to sign. It was highly doubtful that the holdouts would generate too much controversy, as both players participated at rookie minicamp this past weekend and did not raise any issues. It felt like a matter of time before the contracts were signed and any slight bit of controversy was erased.

On Tuesday, one more player was officially signed by the Raiders.

The Raiders only have one more of their draft class to get under contract.

It was reported by the team that Porter had signed his four-year rookie contract on Tuesday, officially locking him down.

Porter signing is a significant development, as he is expected to compete for snaps early on. With the cornerback room having very little past Jakorian Bennett and Eric Stokes at the moment, Porter has a tremendous opportunity in front of him. Despite being raw, Porter’s impressive tape from last season and his elite athleticism gives him a chance to impress head coach Pete Carroll as early as training camp.

Bech is now the final member of the Raiders’ 2025 draft class needing to sign, but nothing has indicated that the two sides are in any sort of disagreement. While Bech and his agent could be reviewing the deal for guaranteed money or any unclear language, any red flags likely would have come up a long time ago. It is expected that Bech will sign his rookie deal before training camp begins in July.

Having Bech and Porter leave rookie minicamp without signing may have raised some eyebrows, so the news of the latter finally reaching a deal is worth a small sigh of relief.
